Layered Lighting for a Renovated Interior

1 min read

Lighting works best as a system. One bright ceiling fixture rarely provides enough comfort or flexibility for cooking, working, relaxing, and entertaining in the same space.

Use three lighting layers

Ambient light provides general visibility. Task light supports activities at counters, desks, mirrors, and reading areas. Accent light adds depth by emphasizing art, millwork, texture, or architectural features.

Coordinate before walls close

Fixture locations, switching, dimming, color temperature, and driver access should be resolved during planning. Built-in lighting often requires blocking, channels, or concealed wiring before finish carpentry begins.

Control glare and color

Consistent color temperature creates a calmer interior, while appropriate beam spread prevents harsh bright spots. V21 Construction coordinates lighting with cabinetry, ceilings, and finishes so it looks integrated rather than added later.
